American Integrity Insurance Review: A Look At the Consumer Data

Given how historically difficult it is for Florida homeowners to find reliable, affordable insurance, we thought we'd take a look at how satisfied they've been with companies that have been serving the state for a while. This American Integrity Insurance review will look at customer reviews, average premium, and formal complaints to see how it compares. The goal is to help you come to your own conclusions about who the best home insurance company in Florida really is.

American Integrity is a Florida-based insurance carrier founded in 2006 because the CEO felt there was a shortage of “sound home insurance choices in Florida.” This company maintains an A rating from Demotech and issues 2.42 percent of home insurance policies in the state.

American Integrity Insurance vs. Kin on Customer Reviews

American Integrity Insurance has been in business for 14 years but only has 17 insurance reviews on Clearsurance with an average score of 1.6 out of 5.  More than 72 percent give a one-star rating. That's a fair number of bad reviews compared to other Florida insurance carriers with at least 2 percent of the market share.

Reviewers note bad claims experiences where they were low-balled on the settlement for repairs or forgotten after a claims adjuster visited their home. Ultimately, the consensus seems to be there is bad service during the claims process with little-to-no follow up. More than one customer noted it took repeated calls and messages to get a response.

Even though we are a younger company, we actively ask customers to tell us about their experience. To date, we have 750+ customer reviews. More than 95 percent are 4 or 5 star reviews.

Bottom line: Growth starts with customer feedback. Without it, you can’t expand what you do well or improve where you fall short.

American Integrity Insurance Complaint Score

The National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) designed the Complaint Index to help consumers better understand whether an insurance carrier has a normal number of complaints. A bigger or smaller market share can bias the number of complaints, so the NAIC uses a ratio to establish a baseline.

The ratio considers the number of complaints and the total written premium in a year. The median is 1, which indicates an expected number of complaints for a company's size. A score  below 1 means the company has fewer-than-expected complaints. Greater than 1 means the company more complaints than expected for its size.

Kin has a complaint score of 0. American Integrity Insurance's score is more than seven times the median at 7.65. Considering that it's the 11th largest homeowners insurance carrier in Florida, that number is a little concerning.

The average cost of homeowners insurance in Florida is among the highest in all 50 states. While paying more for insurance is expected these days in catastrophe-prone states, costs don't have to be outrageous. By pricing risk appropriately, we've been able to save homeowners a lot of money each year.

For a new home valued at $300,000, Kin's average premium of $2,083 a year is 13.6 percent less than American Integrity Insurance's at $2,575 a year.

American Integrity Insurance vs. Kin on Claims

In an ideal world, claims would be the time an insurance company really shines. It's when their service is actually being used – and put to the test.

Unfortunately, as many, many Florida homeowners know, insurance companies have a reputation for underdelivering on the promise made by their coverage. Based on reviews and the NAIC Complaint Index, American Integrity Insurance seems to miss the mark when it comes to helping customers through a loss. Almost all reviews cite a poor, slow, or disappointing claims experience.

We go to great lengths to ensure a responsive, accurate, and helpful claims experience. We invest in technology to expedite the claims process and created the Managed Repair Network to help customers get repairs done quickly by local, licensed, insured contractors with a good reputation in the community.
