How it works

Three easy steps

Get set up in about a minute. From there, we handle the rest for as long as you're enrolled.

1
Enter your property address
We pull your Harris County record and estimate what your neighbors have saved.
2
Verify your details
Confirm the owner on record, add your contact info, and sign Form 50-162. About a minute.
3
You're enrolled
Each year we review your assessment. When the data says you're overpaying, our licensed Texas team files and argues it for you.

Why Kin?

Everything for your home, in one place.

Kin is committed to making homeownership cheaper and easier. Property tax appeal is one of the free services we've built for homeowners, alongside our core products: home insurance, auto insurance, and home financing.

  • No contingency fee. Others take 25 to 50% of your savings. We take nothing.
  • Licensed Texas team. Real people who file, argue, and show up at the hearing so you don't have to.
  • Zero risk. A protest can only lower your assessment. It cannot raise it.
FAQ

Common questions

Do I have to buy insurance from Kin?
No. If you're curious whether we can also save you on home insurance, you can get a quote through our main site at kin.com.
Why is this free?

Our mission is to make homeownership cheaper and easier for everyone, whether you're already a Kin customer or you've never heard of us before today. Offering this service for free is one of the most direct ways we can do that, and over time it's how we build the kind of trust and reputation that keeps homeowners with Kin.

Is there any risk to protesting?
In Texas, a protest can only lower your assessed value. It cannot raise it. If we file and the review board disagrees, your value stays where it was and it costs you nothing.
Do I have to do anything after I sign up?
No. Once you're enrolled, our licensed Texas team handles the annual review, the filing, the evidence, and the hearing.
What if you don't protest my home one year?
If your assessment already looks fair based on recent comps, filing likely won't lead to a reduction, so we sit it out that year. We will inform you either way.
Can I enroll more than one property?
Yes. As long as the property is in a location we're currently servicing, you can enroll additional homes you own by submitting a new form through the address bar above, one submission per property.
What about counties outside Harris?
Right now we only file in Harris County. We're adding more Texas counties before next tax season. If you enter an address outside Harris, we'll add you to the list so you're first to know when yours goes live.

Stop overpaying. Start protesting.
